Hey euphoric beings! Since time immemorial, religion has been a significant element, dictating our behaviors, conduct, and interactions within the environment. However, in the contemporary world, the advent of science has enhanced man's reasoning to the point that some people begin to doubt religion. Is religion and God an invention?
Particular scientists
and atheists argue that believing in God and Religion resembles the belief in
fairy tales. For this, I try to perceive the modern man's faith in mythical
creatures such as Goblins, Pixies, and Griffins; hence, making me more confused
on religious and scientific matters. Sadhguru (Indian guru and Yogi Master)
once opined that the belief and disbelief in God and religion are 50/50 and
that man should be responsible for their actions.
Indeed, religion has
had a significant impact on society since the medieval era. People who have
faith in religion believe that there is a "MAN" who dwells above the
skies, who keeps track of our conduct and inflicts punishment when we go
astray. This has made man adhere to rules and commandments due to the fear of
being banished to HELL in the afterlife. For this, I picture religion as an
aspect of enslavement since people are forced to conform to certain principles
to avoid punishment. If you believe in something, it means that you are not
sure of its existence because you lack proof. For instance, do you believe or
you know you have an arm? Of course, 99% of people know that they have an arm
because they can prove it. Therefore, the act of believing is putting trust in
something you have no proof of.
Religion and science
tend to confuse man since they give conflicting ideas. For instance, Darwin's
theory of evolution and the creation theory in religious texts present
different views of man's existence. Besides, religious texts suggest that the
world is approximately 6,000 years old, while scientific studies date the world
to be about 4.54 billion years old.
Overall, I do not
advocate for anyone to halt their belief in God and religion. The modern man
should analyze the two elements and decide on which to follow. People should
also know that religion has caused more bloodshed than any other activity in
man's history. At the same time, religion guides society to righteousness and
seeks to instill ethics. Thus, people should commit to whatever they believe in
and practice virtue ethics to live a purposeful life. Amen!
